They’ve sold us out –
Congressional CA GOP votes to cut healthcare

Asm Bains and constituents

I submitted a resolution (AJR 13) to formally censure the California GOP Congressional Delegation after all nine members voted to slash federal healthcare and food assistance funding estimated to cost the state up to $30 billion annually.

Their vote could result in higher co-pays, longer ER waits, hospital closures, and increased nursing home expenses. I will always stand up and fight for my community even if our congressional representatives won’t.

We send representatives to Washington DC to fight for California. Instead of standing up for us, our Republican delegation sold us out. No state in the nation is harmed more by Trump’s Big Ugly Lie. The Negligent Nine betrayed California, putting loyalty to Trump and their political party above the 40 million residents of the greatest state in the union.

President Trump’s “One, Big Beautiful Bill,” makes bone-deep cuts to numerous social safety net programs to offset the cost of increasing tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy. The bill also increases the national deficit by $4 trillion.

Non-Profit of the Year – Stay Focused Ministries

Non-profit of the Year

Non-profit of the Year

This year, I had the pleasure of honoring the Stay Focused Ministries as my Assembly Non-Profit of the Year. Manuel Carrizalez, and his wife Liz, provide essential uplifting mentorship and tireless advocacy for our Bakersfield and Kern County youth, especially to an area with the highest rates of gang violence. Thank you for your work and your investment in our community.

Doctor's Note - Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month

June is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month

June is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month, where we acknowledge and educate people about Alzheimer’s disease and other brain dementias. As a physician and the Chair of the Aging and Long Term Care Assembly Committee, the awareness of brain health is of great importance to me. We are at our strongest when we uplift one another.

Here are some resources for Alzheimer’s and aging care that are available in Kern County.

In Good Health,
