August Update from Dr. Bains' Office
Dear Neighbors,
Kern medical school proposal sent to Governor’s desk
Dr. Bains hands the Grow Our Own Bill to the Clerk of the Assembly
It’s been a long journey pushing the Grow Our Own bill through the legislature this year, but we finally reached the last critical step and sent the bill to Governor Newsom’s desk. This bill represents a commitment from the legislature to build a University of California medical school in Kern and a transformative idea that will positively impact healthcare, our local economy, and create good jobs in our community. I am extremely proud of this big first step, and I look forward to sharing more good news in the future.
Fighting for Kern County in Sacramento
Seven of my bills have made it to the Governor’s desk this legislative session after a marathon final week that went early into the morning Sunday. I pushed through bills that will increase access to healthcare and addiction treatment, cut bureaucratic red tape, protect older Californians, continue funding Alzheimer's research, and protect our supply chain from regulatory overreach.
Doctor's Note
Flu season is here; now is the time to get your flu shot. The flu virus changes each year, and getting vaccinated is the best way to protect yourself and those around you from getting sick.
The flu shot is safe, quick, and effective. It only takes a few minutes for most people, and it’s a small step that can have a big impact. Children, the elderly, pregnant women, and those with chronic conditions are at higher risk for severe flu complications. By getting vaccinated, you’re not only safeguarding your health but also helping to protect those who are most vulnerable.
In good health,
Dr. Jasmeet Bains
