April Update from Dr. Bains' Office
Protecting school funding
Last week, my proposal to protect school funding during an immigration raid passed out of the Assembly Education Committee.
When kids cannot get to school because their families fear deportation, schools lose funding. This isn't a political issue. It's an elementary school math problem, and the equation is simple: ICE raids plus empty classrooms equals defunded schools.
Thank you to NAMI Kern County

At the National Alliance for Mental Health (NAMI) Gala on Saturday night, I had the pleasure of presenting NAMI Kern County with a resolution recognizing them for their incredible work serving our community in mental and behavioral health. Through their education, support, and tireless advocacy, NAMI Kern County has helped thousands of families and individuals.
I also want to thank NAMI Kern County from the bottom of my heart for naming me Advocate of the Year. I am extremely honored to accept this award, and I look forward to continuing to work with NAMI to support and expand mental health treatment and services.
Doctor's Note - A message from Dr. Bains on emergency preparedness
I wanted to share this message with my community because being prepared is one of the most important things you can do to protect yourself and your loved ones in the event of a disaster. As a volunteer with the California Medical Assistance Team, I’ve been on the front lines of disaster response, and being ready and having a plan when disaster strikes is the most important thing you can do.
Watch my message here:
Keep You and Your Loved Ones Safe in an Emergency
In Good Health,
Dr. Jasmeet Bains
